Food Services are provided by Royal Foods Correctional Services who have demonstrated
their capacity and efficiency to provide more than 9 500 meals per day to offenders
and staff. The meals supplied to staff are of the same quality as those provided
to offenders.
Up to one hundred and thirty offenders work in the kitchen on four different shifts.
They receive formal training on food and related services. Once qualified, they
are rotated to provide an opportunity for others to be trained. All offenders working
in the kitchen are medically screened before being appointed in their positions.
A dietician reviews the dietary requirement at least annually, and the Kitchen Manager
reviews the menu at least quarterly, to ensure that the diet accepted by the dietician
is conformed to.
Therapeutic diets are prescribed by the medical doctor and religious diets by the
chaplain.
